Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

-Proverbs 3:5-
A Blessed New Year to all!
There’s a story about a mountain climber who fell off a cliff, but on the way down, he grabbed the roots of a tree and held on tight. Looking down, he saw a thousand foot drop. He yelled for help but none came. Finally, he cried, “God help me!” And a voice said, “Just turn loose; I’ll catch you!” But he couldn’t see anyone and not liking the alternative called out again, “Anybody else up there?”
We smile at this, but a lot of us live this way. When we don’t like God’s direction we seek alternative. The life of faith means unconditional obedience and commitment. For this coming 2025, here are five guidelines I hope you consider. I believe in my heart this will greatly help you.

  1. Learn abut the future and character of God.
God is God, and though your earthly parents may have disappointed you, you will never live long enough to meet person who can honestly say, “God let me down; he disappointed me!”
  2. Become a student of the Bible.
In the Bible, you will learn about the nature and character of God. The Bible is the only book where you can find the true meaning of the nature and character of God. It is your way of intimately fellowshipping with the Lord and when the pure word of God is received in your heart, the very presence of God is revealed.
  3. Commit yourself to God’s will for your life (and your family).
Until you come to know that God is good, you won’t entrust your life and future to Him. The gift of the efficacy of God’s will in your life happens when you fully entrust your life upon Hi.
  4. Realize that the life of unhesitating obedience is a ONE-STEP-AT-A-TIME walk.
When I was young, a friend gave me good counsel when he said, “God’s will is like a flash-light in a dungeon; it doesn’t shine around corners or illuminate the next cave; it only gives you light for the next step.” A great truth!
  5. Realize that with God’s demand for unhesitating obedience comes His commitment to protect and provide for you.
With such assurance, how dare we ask for more?
